I use Breville kettle for a long time, and this is the first time I clean it. Very simple, all you need is a cup of vinegar (white one or rice vinegar, dont use red one)
- Pour the vinegar to the kettle, add water to half or up to 1500 cc,
- Use broil setting
- Leave it there for 10 hours
- Pour the mixture out, rinse the kettle 2 times with cold water, then use cold water to cook for another 2 times before cook water for use
Here is the result: shiny again

Taiko sushi in Irvine
This restaurant is always crowded with a long line of waiting customers. At least we can get it within 5 minutes that day, because it was quite late for dinner time.
The tea is free. Everyone can get start with a small bowl of pickle and miso soup
Here is the fried crab, very juicy and tasty
Charashi, lots of rice but the rice is so good, I think they use mirin to mix rice

Monkfish liver salad - Japanese style
We often order monkfish liver (Ankimo) dish at Japanese restaurants, the price is not too expensive, but this time, we found ankimo at Mitsuwa Irvine at a very crazy price: $79.99/pound. Well, gave it a try with traditional Japanese salad style.
All you need:
- Some slices of monkfish liver
- A sweet onion
- Ponzu sauce and soy sauce
- Optional: katsuobushi or green onion
1. Prepare a big bowl of cold water, add several cubes of ice
2. Slice a sweet onion (half one is ok, I just want to eat more, so I add a whole one). You can use a very thin knife or just a slicer.
3. Add the sliced onion directly to the cold water, leave it there for 3 mins, or until you finish slicing
4. Drain it and put it back to the bowl
5. Add ponzu: 3 spoons, 1/2 spoon of soy sauce then mix well and fast to keep the onion crispy and sweet
6. Put the onion the a dish, add the monkfish liver, then add katsuobushi
7. Optional: The dish will be greater if you have a cup of good sake: Wakatake Ginjo (Onikoroshi sake - Junmai Ginjo)

New coffee bean at Trader Joe's
This Las Nubes medium roast coffee is imported from Nicaragua, they packed it very interesting, very "green" and is the most beautiful package for coffee I've ever seen from Trader Joe's.
Just think about Vietnamese coffee, so we bought this organic sweetened condensed milk. This is the best I can find here that the ingredients are not countless: only milk and cane sugar. It be a very good match with dark roast coffee, when you want to make Vietnamese style coffee.
Because I don't have a Vietnamese style coffee filter at home now, I use Nespesso's machine with Finezzo lungo capsule. Add 1 spoon of condensed milk is enough, stir it, then enjoin!
Also, I found Trader Joe's instant coffee. Its ingredient is also "normal", not lab-test style. Love it!
